Year 13 Media Studentsvisit Heart FM Cambridgeshire
Year 13 Cambridge Technical students are currently studying Radio Production as part of their course and creating their own radio programmes. To help inspire the students with the content for their shows and enable them to see how a professional Radio Studio functions, the Media department at Netherhall took 12 students to Heart FM Cambridgeshire.
Meeting Stefan Doyle the Station Producer, the students were able to learn about the highs and lows of the radio industry. Presenters Kev and Ros explained how they created content for the shows, used music playlists and how to run a live radio show. With plenty of questions for the presenters and producer of the show, students were able to learn and think about their future productions (they even managed a few selfies with the Cambridge celebs!).
The students' highlight was being an audience to a phone-in about Christmas trees and watching the presenters sharing some entertaining links between songs, which gave them a real taste of live radio. With their final radio programmes being recorded over the next two weeks, the students now have a clear insight in how to entertain the eardrums on air!
