Friends@Netherhall

“Welcome to Friends@Netherhall (F@N). We are an informal group of parents and carers who get together to support the work of the school by helping improve the school/home communication, expressing parental views on key issues and providing opportunities for parents to meet each other.

Unlike a primary school PTA, our focus extends beyond fundraising (although this is still important, and welcomed by the school) as we also hope to provide a ‘parent voice’ to help inform the development of school policy and activities.

You are all warmly invited to come along to the next Friends@Netherhall meeting (details on the right-hand side), where you can meet other parents, find out more about F@N, and – if you want to – get involved in running the group or in some of the activities planned.”

Fundraising and Social Events

Friends@Netherhall Medieval DayEach term we aim to hold one or two fundraising events, with money going to fund activities and resources which benefit the whole school. Last year, among other things, F@N supported the annual Medieval Day for Year 7s, provided a total of £3000 towards new library chairs, bought a ‘key’ for £500 as a contribution towards the school’s campaign for a new grand piano, and contributed over £300 to the fund for new benches for the school grounds.

Check the What’s On panel on this page for the latest list of fundraising and social events being planned this year.

Information Evenings and Focus Groups

Friends@Netherhall Food FocusMany parents are keen to know more about issues concerning secondary school, teenagers and growing up in general, and we provide opportunities for parents to debate this and other topics. We hold events where speakers from inside and outside the school cover subjects such as ICT safety, Emotional Well-being, Coursework, Exams and Stress, Raising Teenagers and Sex & Relationships. In 2011-12 we held Focus Groups on ‘Rewards and Sanctions’, ‘Food at Netherhall’, and ‘Parent Voice’ – we hope to hold more Focus Groups this year, with details announced by email.
