About
Welcome to The Netherhall School and Sixth Form Centre.
At Netherhall we believe that young people should be challenged and supported intellectually. We are passionate learners who are ambitious for our students. We want them to succeed to bring out the best in themselves. We also want students to make valuable contributions to society and we encourage them to enjoy their own and others’ success.
As a leading ‘High Performing’ Specialist Sports College and Training School, Netherhall attracts very well qualified and capable staff. It enjoys extensive partnership working with the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University. Our work with local, national and international partners plays an important part in creating opportunities for students to develop the knowledge, skills and self awareness that are so valuable in today’s changing society.
The Netherhall School is a special place where both students and staff have a deep affection for the school. Friendships are important here and we aim to create purposeful and enduring relationships between staff, students and families. We work in the spirit of trust and mutual respect and we create a well ordered, calm and purposeful environment. We greatly encourage the involvement of parents, valuing their interest in the school and encouraging regular contact.
We want our students to take pride in their learning and put in the best effort possible at school and at home: we value a job well done. We have a very good track record of success in KS3 results, GCSE, A Level and in facilitating entry to University, College and employment. We do well in adding value. In summer 2007 5 A*–C grades improved from 57% to 62%. Additionally, at national level our students were ranked in the top 9% in Maths (KS2–4 progress) and in the top 5% nationally in English (KS2–4 progress). For the fourth consecutive year our A–C grades at A Level improved.
We offer a large range of A-level courses, but what makes us different from other Sixth Form Colleges is that we have a maximum intake of 250 students. This means that we can teach A-levels in smaller group sizes. Our average class sizes are approximately 16, so we can provide additional individual guidance which benefits all A-level students.
Netherhall Sixth Form aims for excellence and I am convinced that this can only be achieved in an environment where students are secure and happy. Our expectations are that Sixth Form students will work hard and, therefore, be able to take full advantage of the expertise and commitment of our staff. to provide high quality teaching within excellent study facilities.
